Your Guide to Campland Summers

Campland is a spectacular place to spend your family’s summer vacation. As soon as school ends for summer break, families start arriving to enjoy Campland on the Bay, known for 50 years of family-friendly fun.

Your Guide to Campland Summers“Summers are an intensely busy time,” explained Chris Leger, the Fun Guy. Chris and his Recreation Team plan activities from sunup to sundown. From dodgeball and tie-dye to human foosball and a giant slip n’ slide, they plan activities for all ages. Kids line up to play bubble soccer, a Campland favorite. This year, he’s added a Campfire Sing-along on Tuesday evenings. Click here to see a daily calendar.

For most children, there is never a dull moment. Since the park is gated, parents are comfortable letting their older kids roam freely, either on foot or riding bikes and scooters. Kids congregate at the playground, the skateboard park (helmets required), the video arcade and at the beach. Note: It’s important that vehicles are driven slowly at less than 5 mph as there are kids on scooters, bicycles, roller blades and skateboards riding all around the resort.

Campland Rocks

On weekends, “Campland Rocks” with a live entertainment series. Bands play every Friday and Saturday night on the Central Park stage. Campers even plan their trips to see their favorite tribute bands perform. Over the summer, every type of music is covered, from the hits of the ‘60s through today. Families bring their chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets to enjoy the evening music and socialize with fellow campers. See the line-up for Campland Rocks.

The Campland beach is a popular spot. Kids make sandcastles and parents take little ones in the water for their first time. Relaxing on the beach, you can watch all the watersports within the world’s largest aquatic park. Guests enjoy kayaks, hydro bikes, peddle boats, SUP’s, and floats of all shapes and sizes in the waters of Mission Bay. Campland’s Marina rents these onsite. Adventure Watersports rents waverunners and waterski boats. The Campland Marina has two large pontoon boats available for rent in addition to their non-motorized toys. Kids love swimming out to the floating platform in the swimming lagoon.

 Campland CantinaEat, Drink & Enjoy

During the summer, the Campland Cantina is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The kitchen closes at 9:30 p.m. but the bar stays open until 10:45 p.m. on the weekends. Campers can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner, without having to cook. The Market & Coffee are open for snacks, beverages, convenience items, souvenirs, and your daily gourmet coffee fix.

Campland Raised

Campland Raised!

Campland has the term “Campland Raised” to capture the generations of families that return to Campland year after year. Children who came camping have now grown up and bring their own children. Families celebrate birthdays and reunions with us every year. Grandparents bring their grandkids to enjoy family-friendly fun. “We love that so many adults and children feel they are “Campland Raised” and get to create cherished memories with us”. explained Ahmed Ait-Lahcen, Campland’s General Manager.

Summer Quiet Time

Campland announces quiet time each night at 11 p.m. We try to keep things quiet so children can get their much-needed rest. For a camping experience that is quiet both day and night, we suggest visiting our sister park Mission Bay RV Resort, just across Rose Creek. It is a quieter and more peaceful campground in the summer. Guests of Mission Bay RV Resort are welcome to use the amenities and enjoy the activities offered at Campland.

Explore Mission Bay

Besides exploring Mission Bay by water, you can also go by land. Campland is adjacent to twelve miles of scenic bike trails that encircle Mission Bay. Campland offers beach cruisers and electric bikes for rent. Sea World is just across the bay and Pacific Beach is near walking distance. Guests enjoy restaurants, shops, miles of beach, and a pier where people can see the SoCal lifestyle in action.

If you have children, Campland on the Bay is one of the best family vacation destinations in Southern California. You can bring your RV, pop-up trailer, motorhome, 5th wheel or tent. Since Campland is an older campground, the sites were designed before RVs were 45 feet long with slide-outs. As a result, campsites can be tight; be sure to book your site based on the size of your rig/tent. Make a reservation online and plan your trip today. If you’ve never been to Campland, call our Reservations Department at (858) 581-4200, and we will help you pick the perfect site to fit your needs. Don’t own an RV? Campland can suggest several excellent RV rental companies if you’d like to give RV camping a try.
