Frequently Asked Questions – Watercraft Rentals at Campland on the Bay

Q1. What types of watercraft rentals are available?
A: Campland offers a wide variety of options including:

  • Pedal boats and 2-person kayaks for exploring the bay.

  • Pontoon boats (seating for up to 10) for larger groups or relaxed outings.

  • Stand-up paddle boards (SUPs) available on a first-come, first-served basis via our partner Adventure Water Sports

  • Motorized rentals such as jet skis and ski boats via our partner Adventure Water Sports.

Q2. Do I need to reserve in advance, or can I just show up?
A: For many rentals (especially non-motorized craft) you can walk up and rent on-site. However, for high-demand or motorized items (jet skis, ski boats, pontoon) we strongly recommend reserving in advance to ensure availability.

Q3. What are the rental rates and required deposits?

A. Please see the rental price charts shown above on this web page.

Q4. What are the age or ability requirements / safety rules?
A: Passengers must wear United States Coast Guard-approved life jackets (provided). Those renting motorized craft (jet skis, ski boats) must meet minimum age requirements, demonstrate competency, and complete safety briefing. Note that rentals are subject to Bay and local regulations.

Q5. What happens if the weather changes or conditions get rough?
A: Rental agreements may include clauses for cancellation or early return in the event of unsafe conditions (winds, storms, high waves). For safety, the marina or rental partner may call the activity off. We recommend planning your rental earlier in the day when conditions tend to be calmer.

Q6. Can I bring my own boat, kayak or jet ski?
A: Yes—Campland’s Marina offers guest boat slips and a three-lane boat ramp for guests staying on-site.  For kayaks or non-motorized craft you may bring your own, subject to resort rules and storage/launch policies.

Q7. What is your cancellation policy for watercraft rentals?
A: Cancellation policies vary by rental type and partner. For motorized or reserved items, there may be minimum notice required to avoid penalties. We recommend checking at the time of reservation and asking about weather-related refund policies.

Q8. Are there any blackout times or times of day when rentals aren’t permitted?
A: Yes—rental hours depend on season and daylight. For example, in summer the marina hours may extend to 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Some motorized rentals may stop earlier. Always verify hours at time of booking.

Q9. Who is responsible for damage or loss during a rental?
A: As part of the rental agreement you’ll likely be responsible for any damage, loss or misuse of equipment. Deposits or credit card holds are used to cover this. Please review the rental terms carefully.

Q10. What happens if I arrive late or miss my rental slot?
A: Rental start times are set in your reservation—if you arrive late you may lose part of your rental time or be charged extra. Contact the marina immediately if you anticipate being late.

Q11. Are rental items included with a campsite or do we pay separately?
A: Rental of watercraft is separate from your campsite reservation. Campsite rates cover the site itself; watercraft rentals are extra and paid directly to the marina/rental office.

Q12. Can I reserve equipment for non-camping guests?
A: Yes—watercraft rentals are available to both campers and the general public. However, campers may have easier access or discounts. Please confirm eligibility when booking.

Q13. What if I want a guided tour or group rental?
A: Larger groups or special rentals (for example, for multi-hour pontoon use, family events) may be eligible for special rates or arrangements. Please contact the marina in advance to discuss options.
